After 10 years working in the utilities industry Peter Campbell had spotted a niche in the market, companies demanding a greener solution to bottled water supply. Not only were companies wasting excess plastic but it was also costly to maintain.
In response, Peter set up Drinking Water Solutions with the aim to “supply local businesses with greener solutions, saving time and money”. The company specialises in freshly filtered water from plumbed in water coolers and the latest technology fountains for offices, residential homes and health clubs.
The Islington-based company initially won several contracts with Government offices which were substantial but unfortunately the business cash flow suffered because of high initial outlay and lengthy payment terms.
As an active member of the Islington Chamber of Commerce Peter regularly attends its networking events and it was there he met Prevista business adviser Valerie Legget.
“Talking to Valerie at these events it was obvious she had a wealth of knowledge and actually cares about helping companies,” he said. Peter has gone on to receive business support with Prevista under the LDA Business London: Start up and Micro Support programme.
“Valerie not only helped solve my cashflow problem by suggesting I obtained money from customers up front when they purchased water coolers, but she also identified creative ways in which to market my product more efficiently.”
Drinking Water Solutions has now implemented this solution with fantastic results. “The practical advice has helped immensely as we now issue proforma invoices avoiding the delay in payment. We are looking forward to long term benefits once we utilise Valerie’s other advice.”
The company is also looking at expansion by obtaining warehouse and storage facilities, and is hoping to take on an apprentice in the near future.
